The Frying Machine over on Fern Dene is to try out wheat-free batter on Saturdays, says the Evening Post.
Owner Jack Garrigan is quoted by the paper as saying: “Over the years we’ve had a few people asking about our batter and whether it has wheat in it. A few months ago I went to a food show and discovered a fish and chip batter which is gluten-free.”
It’s only on Saturdays because apparently they have to clean out the friers to put the special oil in, but Uncle Jack says it tastes better …
