Finally, after a month of sheer hell on the roads around Bradley Stoke, Gipsy Patch Lane has reopened.
It was due open again on Monday, but according to one Examiner correspondant Paul, it actually opened for use on Friday.
Says Chris Barke, senior engineer: “The teams on the ground have worked exceptionally hard to complete these works ahead of deadline.
“We have also worked closely with Network Rail to deliver three programmes at the same time, in so doing avoiding further disruption for road users.
“That said we recognise that some inconvenience has been caused and we would like to thank members of the public for their support and patience.”
We’re so happy here at BSE HQ it’s almost untrue. In fact, we might have a little party later. Jelly and ice cream sounds a nice idea.

Why not celebrate the opening by driving along GPL at twice the speed limit? Oh, you already have! Not got the guts for speed - try tail gating the car in front!
Calm down guys, it’s not that exciting to have 1/2 mile of straight open road in an urban area and if it continues we’ll end up with a lot of traffic calming. The only plus side is that I reckon sooner or later I’ll get to practise my first aid for real ….
