Bradley Stoke Town Council’s website was restored on Monday after a hacking attack at the weekend (3/4 March)
The site read “By Crackers_Child Turkish Defacer” with a flag from that country posted below.
Foreign writing and some obscene language was also written on the site.
The incident was the first that the council’s webmaster company, Two Thirds, had ever encountered.
A spokesperson for the council said: “It was nice to see that many residents emailed and phoned in and that the Bradley Stoke Examiner flagged this up for us.”
