Bradley Stoke school holds Caribbean carnival

Written by Chris (editor) on Saturday March 24th, 2007 at 5:11 pm

Children from Bowsland Green Primary School held their own Caribbean carnival, reports the Evening Post.

Teachers Michelle Spratt, Nicola Davies and Amy Jones were the brains behind the idea following a visit to Trinidad in 2006.

Children at the school made jewellery, head dresses, masks and food before holding the parade which went around the school and nearby streets.

Hi there was no pre warning about this event . I woke up to very loud music like a illegal rave or st pauls carnival as needed to sleep as working nights . It would have been nice if a leaflet was put through the door to warn me of the loud noise . If I played music that loud the enviromental health would be at my door . Have nothing against children having fun , but it is wrong nobody was warned there was going to be very loud music . I was shattered the following night in work.

Sorry Gemma but that is absolutely ridiculous. What difference would it have made if you have been forewarned? There is so little art and craft happening in schools as a result of an extremely tight curriculum and I’m so impressed that the school was able to put on such a magnificent display. The benefit the children, parents, teacher and onlookers completely out weights a single night of broken sleep. I expect the organisers of this event had many sleepless nights, ensuring that it was the success that those involved and the media have reported it to be.
I presume you do not have children. When and if you do, you’ll be counting yourself very lucky if they are able to take part in such an event.
Sorry if this is harsh but I clearly feel very strongly about the subject.
