The row over Bradley Stoke Community School is rumbling on - again.
More than 250 children were turned away after applying forjust 180 places in the September intake.
Now the Evening Post is reporting the Lib Dems are calling for an expansion of the school.
In February, we reported that the Conservatives were calling for an sixth form expansion.
But as the local council elections loom the Lib Dems have continued the argument saying there should be an increase on the 900 total pupil number.
The Labour and Conservative partiessays this goes against an all-party agreement not to expand because of the threat to neighbouring schools in Patchway and Filton.
Lib Dem Councillor Jon Williams, in a leaflet delivered to residents of the town, says: “It is outrageous that so many local children are being turned down for places at our local school.
“It is meant to be a community school, yet too many children from our community are being forced to go to schools outside Bradley Stoke.”
We’d love to think what you think about the row - should the school expand? Or do you think it needs a sixth form? Let us know. Fill in the form below.

The school was never going to be big enough when it was built anyway and now this row has just proved that. Although you have to wonder when Patchway is rebuilt how many of the parents who are desperate to get their kids into the lovely, shiny new school will be doing the same thing there.

If the school gets any bigger - we would get lost! Looking around the Ridings open evening, we did not manage to see the whole school., We ran out of time. On a personal level, my daughter wears a Cochlear Implant and the school is almost purpose built for her. Scientifically, the size is beneficial for ALL children, hearing or none - roll on a sixth form!

Never mind the sixth form, get the school big enough to serve it;s community. Also if it can’t serve the community don’t call it a community school.
After the footpaths were opened up(after another local campaign) this reduced the places available to children in Bradley Stoke South.
Why are the council letting more houses being built near Tescos. This year the radius for getting into the new school was .93 mile this will get smaller every year.

It is OUR community school. Councilors should NOT have made an agreement to protect other area’s achools at our expense, they should be looking after BS interests not Patchway & Filton’s! (Yet another reason to think carefully about who to vote for in the up coming elections!)

There are quite a few from outside Bradley Stoke as when the school took it’s very first intake it took children outside B/Stoke.
These children now with siblings take priority over our local children.
COMMUNITY SCHOOL YOU BET!
