Call for more police in Stokes

Little Stoke Parish Council are writing to Avon & Somerset Police’s Chief Constable, Colin Port, to outline their dissatisfaction over police levels in the area.

The Evening Post reports the subway on Braydon Avenue has become a flashpoint for anti-social behaviour in the area.

Trouble there has been linked to the mass brawl in Bradley Stoke which involved more than 100 teenagers, which was exclusively reported on this website.

Councillor Keith Cranney told the Evening Post: “It is very important that the police put across a very clear message to all parents of children to take more parental responsibility and check on where their children are going, what their children are doing and prevent their children from accessing alcohol.”

Bradley Stoke Sergeant, Clive Johnson, told the paper that there have more mounted police patrolling and the police helicopter has been used more frequently.

Officers have also been talking to local schoolchildren as well as increased spot checks on stores selling alcohol to under-18s, as reported on this website.
