Fences have been erected around the site for Bradley Stoke’s new town centre before work to clear the area gets under way.
One excavator machine will be used to the ecological clearance of the site from Monday, 21 May.
The fence has meant the informal footpath between Manor Farm Crescent has been closed meaning pedestrians must now walk around the site.
Once the site has been cleared a new footpath to the west of the area will be built and will link up with the path near the Three Brooks pub.
Tesco say the new route will be “a better and safer surface for pedestrians”.
A second excavator will join in clearing the site in the middle of next week. The work is expected to last for three weeks.
