In pictures: Rabbit Roundabout

Written by Chris (editor) on Sunday September 23rd, 2007 at 10:37 am

Rabbit Roundabout, the junction which was under threat from “improvements”, has been saved so we’ve been out taking pictures.

Have a look at some of the rabbits enjoying an early morning feed of carrots on the corner of Winterbourne Road and Bradley Stoke Way.

See the pictures here

I love the bunny roundabout, makes me smile every morning on my way to the station. I didn’t know it was under threat, I even get annoyed when the council mows the grass!

Looking at the pictures, I hope people remember to throw carrots onto the roundabout rather than the road, I’d hate any of them to get squashed :-(

We call this roundabout “Bunny Heaven” - food, shelter, places to hide, and plenty of room to move as well as grass to nibble. The traffic must stop a lot of predators as well.

We can foresee a population explosion there…

My brother-in-law from London was amazed to see Bunny Heaven when he visited us recently.

I think the coucil is very over zealous in curtting the grass and the bushes.
I have noticed the the bushes , grass down to the roundabout at the start of Gipsy Patch lane is a mess.
The rabitt roundabout is keeped trim by the rabbits , so leave them alone as they give a lot of people a lot of pleasure .
So leave the rabbits in peace and clean up the other areas that are a mess.

My family and I love Rabbit Roundabout and always shout ‘Rabbit!’ when we see one! I was thinking of putting a sign up on there, but the council would probably remove it.
