Work is to begin on building Bradley Stoke’s new town centre “within the next 10 days”, according to the Evening Post.
The paper carried a story on Dec 3 claiming the contractors, Bowmer and Kirklan, have begun the process of clearing the top soil.
After that, wildlife and archaeological survey work will be carried out at the site before the work proper begins - that is expected to last 18 months.
Felix Gummer from Tesco told the paper: “For the residents of Bradley Stoke the town centre has been a long time coming but at last we can say we have started building it.
“It has taken us several years of detailed negotiations to ensure we get the right development but what is planned will be a credit to the town.”
He also revealed a competition to name the town centre will happen soon - contradicting a previous report claiming it had already been named.
