Several residents from Manor Farm Crescent in Bradley Stoke have raised concerns over gangs causing vandalism problems in their cul-de-sac.
The problem came to light in comments to South Gloucestershire Council over planning variations that Tesco want to make to the town centre.
Some of the objections posted tell of youths on the cul-de-sac, as well as nearby Shepherds Walk and Hedgerows, using them as a shortcut to the town centre.
One comment says: “Recently this access point and path was closed by Tesco as the site is being developed, to the relief of local residents who normally have to put up with gangs of youths who otherwise normally use this shortcut.”
The correspondent went on to say they are “plagued by littering; and disturbances and vandalism from youth ‘gangs’”.
Another resident tells of “noise, vandalism and litter” and says the problems happen in Manor Farm Crescent as they are “away from the public eye”.
The new access road to the town centre is due to open on Monday and it is unclear if the pedestrian route at Manor Farm Crescent will be opened again then.
Do you live on or near Manor Farm Crescent? We’d like to know if there is a gang problem there. Use the comments and let us know.

Every night in Shepherds Walk during university term time we are awoken at 3am by students coming home from nights out, car stereos blaring, swearing in the street outside our bedroom window and more often than not a complete disregard for local residents. We are not old people so we do not expect everyone to be in bed by 9pm but it is unacceptable. The new access point to tesco has made the situation so much worse, everyday we see lads walking past our home drinking from cans of lager dropping litter into our infrequently emptied bins. We hate living here…..

You have bins? we have bushes that everyone uses instead of bins.
The Student problem would appear to stem from the amount of buy-to-let properties in Bradley Stoke, “if you dont own the property you dont care”, appears to be the slogan. My street, approxamatly 60% are rented, and the population changes every 6 months to a new set of “not my place i don’t care” residents.

All that has been described sounds awful and where I live we do too sometime get groups of teenagers hanging around, being loud, drinking alcohol etc which has not been pleasant. However having just spent a a few days in a deprived part of the country for my job, it makes me think there really are worse places to live than in Bradley Stoke and a great deal worse things that can happen in a community than those that are being described here….
