A woman from Bradley Stoke is among the survivors of the bus crash in Ecuador which left five British tourists dead.
Nicola Cox, who is 19, was on a gap year after leaving the Ridings School in Winterbourne in the summer of 2007.
It is thought Nicola banged her head during the crash but is not badly injured.
Nicola, a former member of the Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre, is due to take up a place at Nottingham University in the summer to study medicine.
Friends of Nicola have left get well messages on her Facebook profile. One said: “Its great to hear your ok. I’m really sorry about what has happened to you.”
Another added: “Hey hun. I’m so sorry to hear about what happened. I’m so glad you are ok.”
Students Indira Swann, 18, Lizzie Pincock, 19, of Somerset, Rebecca Logie, 19, and Emily Sadler, 19, all died in the crash.
