Bradley Stoke Tesco Express stores pass alcohol sale test

Police officers have praised Bradley Stoke’s two Tesco Express stores after staff refused to sell alcohol to under age shoppers.

Trading standards officials and officers from Avon and Somerset Police took part in a test purchase operation at about a dozen stores in South Gloucestershire.

Tesco Express in Stoke Gifford along with and McColls and Costcutters in Filton all sold alcohol to people who are under age.

But the two stores in Bradley Stoke refused the sales drawing praise from the police.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Clive Johnson said: “We were glad to see that the majority of shop staff had heeded our warnings and refused to sell alcohol to our test purchasers.

“This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour, which can be linked to under-age drinking.

“We will continue to carry out these joint operations to reinforce the message that selling alcohol to people under 18 is illegal and unacceptable.”
