Bowling club removes kit from Bailey’s Court as legal action looms

Members of Northavon Bowls Club have moved benches, fridges and other equipment from Bailey’s Court in the latest stage of their rent row with Bradley Stoke Town Council.

The last pieces of property were moved from the green next to the activity centre late on Tuesday afternoon.

The benches and other pieces of equipment are being stored by members who are hoping the long-running dispute may be resolved through legal action.

The town council wants the bowls club to pay an 8% annual rise in rent but members say they cannot afford it.

The only piece of property that remains at the centre is a bench dedicated to founder member and former president, the late Colin Payne.

Northavon’s fixtures are currently being played at the green at St Andrews.
