Aztec West roundabout TRO ad - from the Evening Post

Written by Chris (editor) on Thursday June 12th, 2008 at 10:09 am

The Traffic Regulation Order for changes to the Aztec West roundabout appeared in the Evening Post on Friday, 6 June 2008 - on page 52.

The final stage that the public can have their say on the changes has seen a lack of any real publicity apart from The Examiner and The Journal, a page 52 advert in the Post and information at the Library.

If you spot any further publicity please let us know - we are particularly interested to hear if any leaflets are sent to nearby residents or businesses. We’re on news@sadlybroke.com.

Complete details of the TRO and how you can have your say are in the previous post.

Well, to be fair to SGC, at the first consultation, large signs were put up at the approaches to the roundabout, there were flyers for nearby residents and companies on Aztec West received an email about the plans (with the plans themselves put up in the Aztec Centre).
However, as has been reported, most concerns were simply rebutted as not relevant to this proposal and the *one* change they do seem to have made (the rather bizarre island introduced between lanes 2 & 3 on the eastbound Bradley Stoke Way just off the roundabout), looks completely bonkers! Supposedly, bikes may start their journeys on the short length of cycle lane to the Woodlands Rd junction) from this island, which has no light controls and to which access is via two lanes of traffic coming straight off the roundabout:

I’d point out the oddity of this plan if I thought that it wasn’t going to fall on deaf ears like the first round of `consultation’.
