The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have announced their candidates for the forthcoming Meadowbank by-election.

The seat became vacant when Conservative member Caroline Charlton stood down in August.

Local resident Paul Turner will stand on behalf of the Conservatives while South Gloucestershire Councillor and Bradley Stoke resident Jon Williams will stand for the Lib Dems.

Cllr Williams currently represents North Bradley Stoke on the district council and previously for the town council in Woodlands North before he stood down in 2007.

An election is planned to be held on Thursday, 2 October 2008.
