A two-home development in Great Meadow Road could go ahead after it was given the green light by planners despite objections from residents and the town council.
The South Gloucestershire Council planning report unexpectedly recommended approval brushing aside concerns over privacy and parking.
Bradley Stoke Town Council had even objected saying the new housing would result in “overdevelopment”.
The application did feature some alterations, though, to gain outline permission – including a reduction in the height of the building.
The developer must also contribute more than £3,000 towards the North Fringe Development Proposal (Transport Matters) initiative.
A stipulation that no windows will be added to the north and south sides of the buildings was also proposed to protect the privacy of neighbours.
The planner’s recommendation could be discussed at South Gloucestershire Council’s Development Control (West) Committee in January.
Meanwhile, another proposed development for a single home on land in Ormonds Close has been withdrawn.
Papers lodged with the council indicate a second, revised application could be made in 2009.
