Shocking litter photos show state of Bradley Stoke’s verges

A reader of The Bradley Stoke Examiner has compiled a shocking dossier of litter in the town following our appeal earlier in the week.
litter

The catalogue of images shows the area around Bailey’s Court strewn with rubbish – some even around the bottom of a litter bin.

The pictures follow the news that Bradley Stoke Town Council is thinking of employing a mobile cleaning operative.

We asked for readers to e-mail their photos of litter problems in their area – and a reader who wishes to remain anonymous – sent in the selection of more than 40 images.

Some photographs shows bottles, carrier bags and wrappers on the roadside near the south Bradley Stoke shopping area.

In others you can see alleys with hedges stuffed with litter and, shockingly, a bin with waste strewn around its base.

If you have images of litter problems in your area you can email them to news@sadlybroke.com

Bradley Stoke Town Council could make a decision over funding for the cleaning post at a meeting later this month.

have to say the litter was bad before the new town centre opened, but is even worse now with the addition of KFC wrappers, Costa cups and Subway wrappers thrown around. That and the graffiti everywhere and Tesco Trolleys….can’t say i am proud to live here….it’s becoming a hole

Alison, I share your concern and as you will see from another article on this site, The Town Council are currently recruiting someone to tackle the litter problem. In the meantime if anyone feels a particular area is in need of special attention call streetcare to report it on 01454 868000.

    Regarding abandoned trolleys:

You should be able to report abandoned trolleys by calling Tesco Customer Service helpline on:
    0800 505555*, 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.

You then supply details on the location of the trolley and it should be recovered within a few days.

If any Bradley Stokian sees ‘hotspots’ of litter then they should inform the BSTC on phone number 01454 868080 so the Mobile Cleansing Operative can attend & clean it up or if its in your street pick it up yourself or tell the parents of the youngster responsible like the ones who use the Skate Park where there’s always loads of rubbish just dropped to the floor instead of being placed in the bin provided by the entrance/exit gate.
