Great Meadow Road homes row twist over ‘80 year lease’

The row over a planned development of two semi-detatched homes on land in Great Meadow Road has taken another twist.

Great Meadow Road (From South Gloucs planning)A consultation reply to South Gloucestershire Council claims a management company has leased the land and not been consulted over the move.

Kestrels Green Management Company, which was apparently formed to managed the land for overflow parking, says it opposed the development.

“We still have over 80 years left on the lease [and] we have not given agreement to the proposed building,” says the reply.

“We are very concerned if the planning application was granted the freeholder might build or sell this land without giving prior notice.”

Residents in Great Meadow Road have strongly objected to the two new homes but South Gloucestershire Council’s planners have recommended planning permission be granted.

Bradley Stoke Town Council has also waded in on the row saying the homes would result in “overdevelopment”.

A final decision on the homes should be made at South Gloucestershire Council’s Development Control (West) meeting on January 22.
