Vandals have been using screws to puncture car tyres in one area of Bradley Stoke – with some 20 cars hit recently.
Readers have been contacting The Bradley Stoke Examiner about the situation which they are now calling on the police to resolve.
The cars are being targeted in Saxon Way with one inch nails being embedded in the tyre treads.
The problems there are not the only vandalism being reported to the Examiner recently – with another reader telling us of problems in Meadow Way and The Bluebells.
Here, we are told tyres have been let down and plant pots smashed over the past few weeks.
And only last week the police helicopter was called out during the night to help investigate vehicle crime in Bradley Stoke.
At one point, a police car was seen driving along the footpath bordering Juniper Way and the motorway at 3am.

I live in the bluebells and my tyre was done. Broke down next day with the kids in the car. New tyre was £200. Not happy.

I have just contacted Crimestoppers about this and they were very helpful and interested and want as many people as possible to come forward no matter how trivial they may think it is then hopeful this kind of Antisocial behaviour can be stopped.

We’ve had two tyres with screws put in on purpose. My wife was taking the children to school when she was stopped by another driver who noticed the flat tyre.
We have also had our window shot at with an air rifle and often picking up bottles etc of our lawn. (Sometimes smashed)

Thanks everyone for the responses so far – if you’re reading this and finding yourself nodding and saying “me too” then leave a message telling us so! The more that do, the more attention we’ll get, and the more chance there will be of something being done.
@Mark – with regard to the air rifle, was this a recent thing??

Ian – ring it in on 0845 456 7000. They’ll take all the details there and they usually call back pretty quickly. The last time I used it they rang back later that day.

This is the number I rang on Monday. So far no reply. Can we all meet and arrange to catch these people ?? Are they kids ? Do they know how dangerous this is ???

Hi there – I think we need to leave the policing to the police. Taking things into our own hands will only make things worse.
If you got a crime ref number try calling them back and asking for a progress report.

My house has been a target 4 times during the
4 months I have been livijng here.
I now think Bradley Stoke is a rough area.
We have to accept that.
In my street, horrible things have happened like house windows being smashed, screws in tyres , cars being smashed, arson…..some of thess actions could have ended in somebody being hurt/killed. I do no think it is anti-social behaviour. I think it is serious crime.
The number of police resources allocated to Bradley Stoke is ridiculous !
If it is not stopped soon, I expect the worse….
as I can personally witness that the situation is worsening: the seriousness of the crimes is increasing everytime…Note that I am usually an optimist, but……following what happened…..

I had a full-sized screw in the front tyre of my car about 6 months ago. I live close to the pathway leading down to the nature reserve.
I’d thought nothing of it until reading these comments. It cost 300 pounds to replace that tyre, and have the others replaced at the same time due to uneven wearing due to the cushion bumps in the town.

I have a letter from the Police today regarding my tyres. They say they can’t do any more and that they will monitor it for trends…
Trends ?!!??!!?
The trend is quite clear, there is someone going around putting screws under car tyres.
The police don’t give a toss.
I think its time to take action, I understand the comment above saying let the Police do their work. I now have it in writing they don’t care

What action do you propose Mr Williams ?

I live in Meadow Way and a couple of weekends ago I also found that my car had 2 flat tyres and my neighbour had 1. They had obviously used a tool to cause the damage. Back in November we had another problem in the early hours of the morning we were woken by a gang of youths outside having an almighty punch up, running and fighting over everyones’ garden and again my car was damaged. Both times the police have been involved but nothing has come of it.

A couple of months back, someone tried to prize open the fuel cap on my car, probably using a screwdriver as the keyhole was all bent out. This was on Meadow Way.

Where is the police?
Are they too busy with red tape+ contemplating trends?
Crime, and anti-social behaviour+fear of crime for 25000 people !!!!!
What is going on???????????
The situation is becoming really dangerous….
Are we waiting for a tyre blow on the motorway, or somebody becoming seriously hurt because of arsons?
It is like there is no police, total anarchy……
Let us hope things get better soon……

The reason there is not enough police is because the MP’s are spending the money that should be spent on public services on moats, mock tudor beams and other luxuries instead. This is the sad state of the country today, politicians care not for our concerns, they just want to fill their boots at the expense of the taxpayer.
