Two new stores have been confirmed as opening at Bradley Stoke’s Willow Brook Centre.
Card Factory and shoe shop Brantano are the latest two stores to sign up for units there.
Brantano is a long-known suitor for the centre with interest as far back as last October. It also has a store in Filton.
It will open in the second-furthest away of the newly completed retail units from the town centre.
Card Factory, a new name to the centre, will open in the unit between the O2 shop and Timpson.
It now means there are only three ‘under offer’ units in the centre which names have yet to be revealed for.
Around ten units at the Willow Brook Centre remain unleased.

Another shoe shop! Do they think we’re suffering a shoe shortage here?

Anybody else getting more and more depressed about the types of shops appearing in our mall?
Fast food.
Shoe shops.
Betting shops.
Key shops.
Estate agents.
Building Societies.
Phone Shops.
Pretty much all B-ark stuff.
What about some nice cafes?
A bike shop?
Some non-generic chain shop?
Some stores that aren’t available from a 10 minute ride to the cribbs mall?
You know what’s coming next… I’ll bet it is some pseudo sports shops where the chavs can get their togs from.
Something a little more upmarket pretty please, Mr. Planner! Remember this is Bradley Stoke, not a Knowle West clone.
Grrrrr.

If the country was not in a recession I could see more independent shops moving to the centre but I expect the units are quite expensive and no small family run shops are going to risk moving to the willow brook centre at the present time. Larger chains of shops like Costa, Brantano have large financial backing. Its a real shame the type of shops that have opened, come on who wants a betting shop, it is hardly sending out the right message.

Now the Patchway railway bridge is fully open it’s much quicker to get to The Mall at Cribbs Causeway with its wide range of shops.
Let’ s face it, the Willow Brook Centre will never be able to compete.

While I wonder why there should be two discount shoe stores so close to each other, aside from that I don’t really see that it’s as bad as people make out.
It’s not going to be like some quaint little Cotswold village full of coffee shops and antique stores. As Mike alluded to, it’s a BIG commercial development and as such is going to attract “Brand” names.
We use the Greggs and KFC a fair bit at our work, and I think the addition of Timpsons is being quite unfairly judged. I know a lot of people who will at least try their dry cleaning service.
I think people are being too idealistic about what they expect to see at Willow Brook if you ask me…..
Rant over :p

The KFC is currently dreadful IMHO.
Every time I visit there to get something simple, I have to wait anything upto 30 minutes while they cook the chicken.
They seem completely under-resourced and under-prepared for handling such a large population of folks.
It is actually quicker to drive there and back to Filton’s KFC, which is very sad.
Timson’s might well come in handy, you are right.
However, walking around the centre today looking for something for my lunch… I was pretty much limited to pasties, sandwiches or chicken. Not really a great range of things.
Also, what’s with the silly seats? I can’t easily sit down on them cos some folks have superglued some shiny hard metal objects all over them at very odd angles. Is this to deter chavs from cycling over them, or is supposed to be some kind of fashion statement?

I thought for sometime that Bradley Stoke is heading the same way as Yate, this list of shops confirm it. But lets face it a new town is never going to have the charm of Clifton, Bristol or Bath is it?

Where is the shops that are handy?
Where is:-
Peacocks,
Primarks,
Wilkingsons, ect..
Why did we need another estate agents, when we already had at least 8 within 4 miles?
There is schools local, why isn’t there some shops local where we can get discounted goods?
Books, pens, pencils ect..?
If you ask me willow-brook has just added any old shops and not even asked the local people what they wanted from a new shopping area.
