Man threatened with knife before being beaten near Jubilee Centre

A man was threatened with a knife before being beaten in an assault near the Jubilee Centre, Bradley Stoke.

The incident, which took place on Sunday, happened as a couple walked past a gang while heading towards Braydon Avenue.

One threatened the man with a knife before being beaten and kicked by five others. They then ran off towards Little Stoke Lane.

Police say there had been reports of nuisance behaviour in Wrington Close earlier that evening and think the men involved in the assault were involved in that disturbance.

The men involved in the attack were all white, officers added.

The man with the knife is described as 5ft 5ins tall, small build with blonde or gingery spiky hair shaved at the sides. He was wearing a white or grey tracksuit.

What is going on around here? Paid a small fortune for my house in BS32 thinking it was a safe place for my family a couple of years ago. Seems to be going quickly down hill. Police cant be everywhere all the time, so how do we solve this???

They could do with installing some good quality CCTV around the jubilee centre, some towns have a dedicated control room to monitor hot spots, this could be a way to curb the anti-social behaviour and other violent crime.

This is getting bad! Wouldnt suprise me if this is the same gang that ride bikes like nutters all over the place with no helmets!? Saw a blonde/gingery one on a motor bike doing about 60 miles an hour no helmet on the pavement/grass verge down past the leisure centre no doubt on the way to the cycle path AGAIN!

I live just by that corner! The problem is that the locals know that the police just can’t catch them there. If the police come from BS, they run off towards LS, and vice versa.

I don’t know what the fix is – but it seems that the police and the community can’t continue to believe that this area is immune to the problems that plague other areas.

If the police wanted to catch them they could. They have a helicopter, dog units and could easily surround that area if they wanted to. Unless someone gets seriously injured or worse the police just are not interested.

There’s a well-known (to the Police) ginger haired yob operating in this area who has previously been involved in a couple of incidents involving attacks on individuals. The problem is the lenient “punishments” handed out by the courts doesn’t act as any deterrent at all.

For a previous mugging in Bradley Stoke which did go to court it ended up in a 3 month 1900-0700 curfew (big deal in winter) and a 7 month supervision order so I won’t be holding my breath this time round.

If a knife is involved then it’s a minimum 5 year mandatory sentence if this Government is to be believed. These chavs need to be removed from our streets before someone is really hurt.

Unfortunately I’m sure this is a weekly (probably daily) occurrence in many parts of the country, and its going to get worse. The Police are undermanned and only really have one unrealistic solution – shoot the offenders dead on the spot (and we know this won’t happen).
The offenders know the area well, know where to hide to avoid arrest. Even if they are caught by the authorities, what will the “do gooder” courts do? See them as victims from a deprived area and give them a little slap on the hand.
This country has always had a problem in dealing with punishment, 200 years ago you were hanged for less and now the punishment is far too soft, and these offenders take full advantage of it. When people get attacked they want justice, if the authorities can’t give it, this only will only encourage vigilantism.
What worse is these are the types of scum getting girls pregnant and living off the rest of us taxpayers by day and praying on us more by night.

Also re the mandatory five year sentence, this is a myth. Kids who get caught carrying knives get a slap on the wrist , same as ever I’m afraid.

This should be a wake up call. Parents don’t correct their children when they are young. By the time they are teenagers they are little psychopaths.
