Juniper Way six-bed extension likely to be given approval

A proposed extension to a house in Juniper Way, Bradley Stoke, is likely to be given the green light despite objections from neighbours.

The owners of number 283 want to expand their home over half of their two-car garage.

But neighbours are citing a loss of light among their concerns which could see the home eventually become a seven bedroom dwelling.

Bradley Stoke Town Council, in its submission to the district, said the proposal would result in “over development”.

They added: “It will have detrimental affect on the local amenities and overlook neighbouring properties.”

In total, four residents complained and a row erupted on the South Gloucestershire Council planning website with the agent acting for the development replying in detail to each complaint.

One of the main concerns raised was loss of light which planners rejected claiming summer loss would be minimal.

Although, they said, light would be lost in winter months the gardens were less likely to be used then so the impact would be less.

Planners added: “In terms of overbearing impact, the massing and scale of 283 Juniper Way is already established.

“The modest width of the proposed extension at 2.5 m is not considered would have an overall overbearing impact on neighbouring properties.”

South Gloucestershire councillors will now have the final say on the scheme.
