Bradley Stoke is a town to the north of Bristol. It’s a relatively new town in South Gloucestershire which was built up from the late 1980s upwards. There’s lots of businesses like Orange and the RAC with big bases here.
You can find out more about the history of this fine town by clicking this link.
Q, I want to live in Bradley Stoke/I want to move to Bradley Stoke - can you help me?
We highly recommend living here. It’s lovely! But we’re not the best people to help you move. You want an estate agent!
Why don’t you try people like Woods Estate Agent, Halifax Homefinder, Ocean Estate Agent or Lifestyle Estate Agent. They’ll all be happy to help you.
Q, Where is the swimming pool? Is there a leisure centre? Is there a gym in Bradley Stoke?
Yes, it’s off Fiddlers Wood Lane. It has lots of facilities. You can find out more here.
Q, Is x road in Bradley Stoke a good place to live?
The best people to ask are the people who live here. Try asking on our messageboard who will probably have a good idea.
Q, Why do all the roundabouts in Bradley Stoke look the same? I keep getting lost!
Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it! Remember Bradley Stoke Way is the ’spine’ road of the town and you probably won’t go far wrong.
Q, What pubs are there in Bradley Stoke?
There are quite a few. In the south of the town there’s the Bailey’s Court which is next to the Tesco Express, in the centre part of town there’s the Three Brooks, and to the north there’s the Bradley Stoke near to what will be Aldi in the summer, and there’s also the Orchard near to the Woodlands Industrial Estate. You can look them all up on the British Pub Guide website.
Q, Why doesn’t Bradley Stoke have a town centre? That’s a bit rubbish, isn’t it?
It doesn’t at the moment - but work on a new town centre is due to start in 2007 to create a town centre where the large Tesco store is currently sited. Around 18 months after they begin work there will be a much bigger Tesco and room for more than a dozen retail units for other shops, places to eat and more.
It has all been a long time coming but it will be great when it’s finished! Find out more about it all here …
More about this website:
Q, What is The Bradley Stoke Examiner?
The Examiner is Bradley Stoke’s only independent news website.
Q, Why the Sadly Broke address? Surely that brings up bad memories?
It used to! Bradley Stoke got renamed Sadly Broke in the 1990s after a housing crash pushed many homeowners into negative equity, where their mortgages were worth more than their houses.
We picked the name because many Bristolians still call it by that name. But, instead of some wag getting the address and creating a website about the town’s previous problems, we thought it would be better to claim it now and make something positive out of something negative that happened in the past.
The whole site is run by a couple of people. One of them is an experienced journalist so you know you’re in safe hands!
Q, What is the aim of this website?
We’re trying to make a website firstly to help residents know more about what is going on in their town, and secondly to show off Bradley Stoke to the rest of the world.
Q, Why are lots of the stories posted just links to other sites?
Because we figure you’re too busy to go and find news out about the town so we’ve put it all in one place, mixed it with some of our own stories and chucked a bit of fun and humour in. We hope you find it useful.
Q, How many people visit this website?
You’re here with many thousands of friends. We get around 7,000 visits per quarter which works out at about 30,000 page impressions. Not bad, eh?
Q, Can I advertise on your website?
Yes, of course. Contact ads@sadlybroke.com and we can discuss your needs. We’re Bradley Stoke’s number one news website - surely you need to have your company name displayed here.

Q, Can I tell you about a story - something’s happened to me!
Of course. Email news@sadlybroke.com or call 07978 805291 and we can talk. We’ll deal with your email or call in strict confidence.
