A Bradley Stoke councillor has ditched the Liberal Democrats and become and independent in a row over a wrongly attributed quote.
Ronnie Conway-Haskins said a quote in the latest Lib Dem Focus leaflet claimed she had critcised Bradley Stoke Town Council for not discussing the Aztec West roundabout consultation.
Mrs Conway-Haskins said she had asked for the quote to be removed after seeing a proof copy of the leaflet but found it made it to the final printed version.
The matter, according to Councillor Conway-Haskins, had been discussed by the town council during a planning meeting.
She has now become and independent after being a Lib Dem member since the age of 18.
“I have no leaning towards Labour or the Conservatives. It’s not always about party politics,” she said.
“I am still focused on doing the best for the people of Bradley Stoke.”

Noisy manholes on Woodlands Lane are the responsibility of “several” utility companies, South Gloucestershire Council says, and repairs are up to them.
In a statement the authority says they have tried to resolve the situation with the companies involved.
“We have been proactive and have been in contact with the various companies and have informed them that they need to undertake the repairs required and one of these is due to be done shortly.
“Unfortunately, no one utility is responsible for all of the manholes which need repair and each have the right to effect their repairs themselves and will do so independently of each other.”
One of the two noisy manholes is due to be repaired soon but the Lib Dems want both repaired at the same time.

Noise from a manhole cover is Woodlands Lane is set to continue after South Gloucestershire Council admitted it did not know who owned it - so could not replace it.
The cover, ironically, is feet from another which will be replaced during resurfacing work due in the summer.
But it appears the authority has decided to only replace one of the two faulty covers as, according to the Lib Dems, the council “does not know who owned the second one”.
Ward councillor Ronnie Conway-Haskins said “They are both noisy and are keeping residents awake at night.”
Lib Dem prospective parliamentary candidate John Kiely said: “The council are responsible for the public highway, so for them to say that they may not do a noisy manhole cover which is feet away from one they have agreed to do its a waste of public resources.
“Also it will not give respite to a number of local residents who have endured a lot of sleepless nights since the manhole covers became loose. I do hope that council will see sense over this matter.”
Councillor Jones, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease five years ago, said he knew “nothing” about the condition then and wanted to raise awareness.
Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, which are both chronic conditions, affect approximately 1 in 400 people in the UK.
The symptoms include diarrhoea, bleeding, severe pain and exhaustion.
“By choosing NACC as my charity for the year and talking about my own experience, I hope to raise
awareness of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases as well as raising money.
“Since I first told people that I’d be supporting NACC I’ve been amazed by the number of friends and colleagues who’ve told me they or a close relative have an IBD.
“I’m delighted that funds from the Mayor’s Charity collections will help support people in the region.”
Funds raised in Bradley Stoke will go to the Avon group which supports patients and their families
across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset.
The trio were caught after CCTV footage from the centre was examined and compared to photographs from nearby secondary schools.
The three met with the centre’s manager, caretaker and police before agreeing to cover over the graffiti.
Bradley Stoke police beat manager, PC Claire Fletcher, said: “The message is: Do it here and you’re going to get caught. They were quite easily identified from the CCTV footage.”
The work to paint over the graffiti, which was written on the walls early in May, took place on Sunday morning.
