Two youths have been arrested following a series of “racially aggravated” incidents in Bradley Stoke.
The pair, aged 14 and 16, from Patchway have been bailed by Avon and Somerset Police pending further enquiries.
The bail conditions prevent the two boys from visiting Bradley Stoke.
Neighbourhood Inspector Simon Ellis said: “Police had received a number of complaints from men and women of Indian origin about racial abuse, harassment, stone throwing and assaults in the residential area off the Aztec West roundabout in Bradley Stoke.
“This is something neighbourhood officers are not prepared to tolerate. Following a number of enquiries two youths were arrested and are now on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
“Anyone suffering from racist behaviour should be confident that they can come to us and we will take the matter in hand. No one should feel they have to put up with such harassment.
“I want people to report these incidents to any of the agencies, including my officers at Filton, Support Against Racist Incidents (SARI) or Safer South Gloucestershire.
“Whenever such incidents are reported the public can be assured that I and my team will leave no stone unturned in our investigation and any offenders will be sought out and prosecuted as appropriate.”
