The long-running saga over the Tesco’s development took another step forward at this week’s town council planning meeting.
Local residents from Manor Farm Crescent have lodged objections over a few issues.
Their main concerns are down to increased noise and traffic disruption during the building work and the increase in noise from the planned bars and restaurants at the planned facility.
The row is due to continue at the next planning meeting which should be in August/September.
I’d be interested to hear from residents who have lodged objections. Email me: news@sadlybroke.com

Here we go again! Every time I read this document it makes me more and more mad!
Investigate workplace parking charges in the North Fringe and cordon charge in Bristol City Centre.
So they’re now proposing charging people to park their cars in the north fringe areas like Bradley Stoke and Patchway - which could include companies such as Orange, the RAC, Rolls-Royce and Airbus.
What’s the point? Surely the congestion problems are inbound to the city centre?
If you fancy giving the councils who organised this work a rocket, or feel like reading up, then have a look here.
I don’t disagree that something needs to be done, but surely the way to do it is to encourage people out of their cars with cheap, reliable public transport, rather than forcing them out by way of hitting motorists in the wallet.
All you will achieve by penalising motorists financially is to alienate them and make them want to drive their cars more.

This poor family here in Ormonds Close have been told their daughter can’t go to the new secondary school they can SEE from their house.
What’s more worrying from the article is this quote here:
“For September 533 applications were received for the three schools. Therefore, currently there are sufficient local school places for the area.” She said Bradley Stoke did not have the capacity to expand.
No capacity to expand? Well that’s a well-planned facility for a growing town!!

Reading through the documents about the proposals for transport in the Greater Bristol area it seems the councils in the area have managed to illicit responses from less than 1,000 people.
The Greater Bristol Strategic Transport Study, which could see the M4 widened to EIGHT lanes right next to Bradley Stoke, and see a bypass built under the noses of our neighbours in Stoke Gifford, was released this week.
Since the study got under way last year the group conducting it heard from a pathetic 430 people via email and just 306 via post.
So, are the councils now going to use data from this select band of people as an excuse to start building over more greenbelt land, and at the same time driving more people in Bradley Stoke nuts than replied to the consultation in the first place!!
The report even admits that the population of the area that was involved in the consultation is 983,860. Less than 0.1% of that population’s response ended up in the report.

Little Stoke Parish Council are writing to Avon & Somerset Police’s Chief Constable, Colin Port, to outline their dissatisfaction over police levels in the area.
The Evening Post reports the subway on Braydon Avenue has become a flashpoint for anti-social behaviour in the area.
Trouble there has been linked to the mass brawl in Bradley Stoke which involved more than 100 teenagers, which was exclusively reported on this website.
Councillor Keith Cranney told the Evening Post: “It is very important that the police put across a very clear message to all parents of children to take more parental responsibility and check on where their children are going, what their children are doing and prevent their children from accessing alcohol.”
Bradley Stoke Sergeant, Clive Johnson, told the paper that there have more mounted police patrolling and the police helicopter has been used more frequently.
Officers have also been talking to local schoolchildren as well as increased spot checks on stores selling alcohol to under-18s, as reported on this website.
