Bradley Stoke’s Rabbit Roundabout

One of Bradley Stoke’s famous landmarks is Rabbit Roundabout which is at the junction of Winterbourne Road, Bradley Stoke Way and Great Stoke Way.

A family of rabbits lives there and they are helped by generous town residents who often leave food for the bunnies to eat … awwww!

Nice to see that the rabbits have adapted to the decimation of their natural habitat.

    Hi,
We have a faimily song…”How many Bunnies on Bunny roundabout?” which I co-wrote.

You are not allowed to sart the actual count before the 30mph sign on the approach from Winterbourne.

Usually there are between five and eight.

I do wish however that “bunny feeders” would take the carrots out of the bag first, before throwing them out of the car window!

    Hello

Does anyone know what’s happened to the rabbits? I live quite close to the roundabout and haven’t seen them for quite a few weeks?

  • 10 K // Jun 25, 2009 at 10:21 am

I’ve noticed they have not been around but thought maybe they are out at a different time.

    Where are they?

We go to Esporta regularily and are very disappointed not to have seen the rabbits recently. It seems they vanished when the grass was cut. Have South Glos council got anything to do with this?
    We want our bunnies back!!

How sad if they have gone to the big bunny in the sky. I REALLY miss them. They always made me smile – not matter how I felt, when I saw them I smiled.

I’m really sad. The roundabout looks so empty!!!

  • 16 Lyn in the Bluebells // Jul 6, 2009 at 8:31 pm

How sad I agree just where have the bunnies gone? My friend and I have just been on the roundabout and not a bunny or any droppings in sight. Have South Glos council really got anything to do with this? How can we find out about the bunnies disappearance?

    Foxes 1 : 0 Bunnies

  • 18 Matt // Jul 8, 2009 at 9:27 pm

I suspect it’s quite possibly foxes – without saying too much I know for a fact there’s den fairly close by the roundabout.

Very sad but then again that’s nature for you.

The rabbits seem to have disappeared since the contractors last cut the grass and cut back the shrubbery??? This has been done before but the rabbits have remained. Does the Council know why??

  • 24 David // Aug 3, 2009 at 3:20 pm

checked again today, no rabbits. questions really need to be asked, have the council been involved?

Last year on the Three Brooks Nature Reserve walk there were always lots of rabbits. I’ve not seen too many this year. Bad year for rabbits.

Hedgehogs seem to have vanished from the area too.

  • 26 Luke // Aug 11, 2009 at 12:13 am

Hedgehog in the garden last week, caught him talking to the rabbit! (and left a “present”)

  • 27 S // Aug 13, 2009 at 4:40 pm

For a few weeks I didn’t see any rabbits on the roundabout. But, good news, I saw one on there earlier today.

Similarly with regards to hedgehogs I didn’t see evidence of them in the garden for a long time this year – but in the last fortnight I’ve been getting one visiting the garden most nights. (We live just off Bailey’s Court Road). We’ve also been getting a bat flying around just after sunset when it’s been a warm day.

  • 28 katie // Aug 16, 2009 at 4:50 pm

Saw 1 rabbit on saturday 16th august.

  • 29 P // Aug 16, 2009 at 11:23 pm

We saw a rabbit tonight (poor lonely thing) too, let’s hope more follow him or her to the roundabout.

For the first year in many years of being in BS we are getting nightly visits from a family of hedgehogs, 2 babies and an adult spend a couple of hours in our garden about 10pm every night and are doing a fine job keeping the slugs away from the hostas. They get rewarded with treats such as cat food!

The council have some questions to answer! As i doubt it is a lion :) We want our bunnies back! but I saw a hedgehog on saturday!
