Bradley Stoke MS Therapy Centre given initial green light by planners

September 11th, 2009 · No Comments

Planners have recommended that a MS Therapy Centre, which could be built alongside Bradley Stoke Way, be granted permission.

The Bradley Stoke Examiner revealed in June that land off Wheatfield Drive in the town had been earmarked for the scheme.

The site, should it gain permission, would be between Wheatfield School and Bradley Stoke Way near the Primrose Footbridge.

The Moonstone appeal charity says in the ex-Avon area there are some 1,700 people living with MS.

The therapy centre is currently based in Nailsea which it says it needs to move out of.

Despite objections, planners say the centre should be granted permission but added a string of conditions including restricting access for workmen to Bradley Stoke Way.

Residents, and representatives from Wheatfield School, had been worried about works traffic using Wheatfield Drive.

Planners also said work should only happen between 8am and 6pm on Monday to Friday and 8am until 1pm on Saturday.

Fears that the work could impact on an Esso pipeline running beneath the development were dismissed as the charity had contacted the firm and had gained permission for the work to take place.

The scheme will now need to be signed off by councillors before any work can take place.
