Fly tipping: Is there a problem?

September 21st, 2007 · 2 Comments

Fly tipping in Bradley Stoke is the latest problem being highlighted by The Evening Post – but have you actually seen any dumped rubbish?

The paper quotes one resident – from Oaktree Crescent in the north of the town – saying people were dumping rubbish during the night.

Certainly near Examiner HQ, at the other end of town, no problems have been noted and this publication has received no complaints.

So where is this mysterious rubbish? Report in, Examiner readers!

It’s also worth noting the problems are being blamed on restrictions at the Sort It centre on Station Road. These restrictions are not in place at the facility in Yate for those who are able to drive a few miles further.

Is Bradley Stoke getting too messy?

April 13th, 2007 · 5 Comments

In our community forum, one user has posed the question: has Bradley Stoke become to messy?

Louisa asks: “Has anyone noticed the dramatic increase in the amount of litter around Bradley Stoke, especially in the hedgerows along the main roads (Bradley Stoke Way for example?)

“Having moved here 3 years ago I remember telling friends how clean and tidy Bradley Stoke was – if they come to visit me now I’m ashamed of the place.”

We’d love to know what you think about this topic.

The Examiner has also been out with a camera to have a look for itself. There were noticable signs of litter along Bradley Stoke Way and in parts of the Three Brooks Nature Reserve.

We’ve posted a few examples of this in our In Pictures section – if you have any more photos, feel free to post them.

What do you think should be done about this problem? Should the district council be making more of an effort to clean up, or should we follow the example of neighbouring Stoke Gifford and start up a volunteer-run litter picking group?

Fill in the form below and we’ll publish the best comments here.
